Women in GIS 2023 Election

In April 2023, WiGIS Members will elect five key roles in WiGIS leadership.  We invite you to participate in the upcoming elections and to consider nominating a friend, colleague or yourself for one of these open positions.

All open positions serve a two-year term, except for Vice President which is a three-year commitment.

All current dues-paying members are eligible to vote in the election and qualify for nomination:

  1. Vice President (VP): As an officer of the WiGIS Board of Directors, the Vice President will serve for one year as VP, and then moves into the role of President in year two. The Vice President works alongside the President in various projects and running of the organization. The Vice President also serves as an officer participant on the Internal Affairs Committee.

  2. Treasurer: Serves as an officer on the WiGIS Board of Directors, the Treasurer is vital to maintaining the financial viability and health of WiGIS. Duties include: tracks and accounts for WiGIS revenues and expenses; conducts banking and pays bills on behalf of WiGIS; tracks membership and member dues; prepares quarterly budgets and financial reports for the Board of Directors; and tax preparation. The Treasurer also serves as an officer participant on the Internal Affairs Committee.

  3. Professional Development Committee Chair: This committee lead is responsible for curating and offering professional development resources to our members and potential members. These include but are not limited to webinars, workshops and symposiums covering both technical (hard skills) and professional development (soft skills).

  4. Mentorship Committee Chair: Responsible for offering professional development resources to our members and potential members. These include but are not limited to webinars, workshops and symposiums covering both technical (hard skills) and professional development (soft skills).

  5. Map Development Committee Chair:  Responsible for maintaining existing StoryMaps (WiGIS members, mentorship program and local chapter maps) and exploring how WiGIS can leverage and apply web map (e.g., ArcGIS Online) technology to support the WiGIS mission.

  • Vote! Elections will be held mid-April. WiGIS members, be on the lookout for an email from us with a link to the form to cast your vote.

March 31st:  Nominations Due
April 10th – April 16th: Voting Period
April 24th: Nominees notified of election results
